Q:
Can we really make a difference?

A:
Yes! As students committed to social justice, we aim to make a difference in the lives of Israelis and Palestinians in both the short and long term. Supporting direct efforts with a record of success will enhance the positive effect on the ground. Not only do these efforts contribute to positive improvements in the daily lives of Israelis and Palestinians, but they will also build trust between the two peoples and forge a solid foundation for future peace efforts.

Q:
How did you choose these organizations?

A:
EcoPeace Middle East, Save a Child's Heart, Americans for a Vibrant Palestinian Economy, and Yala Young Leaders all have records of success in creating positive change for Israelis and Palestinians. As mentioned in our vision, we focus on four important areas of development: environmental, economic, healthcare, and leadership. These organizations engage with individuals from all facets of Israeli and Palestinian societies and offer them a space to engage with each other in direct dialogue.

Q:
Why are you launching this initiative now?

A:
Tigers for Israel and JStreet U Princeton have been planning this initiative in light of the events of this past summer and concerns over the failure of the most recent round of peace negotiations. We recognize that there is a sense of hopelessness when examining the history between Israelis and Palestinians. Through our efforts, we want to reaffirm hope and pave the path for a healthy and prosperous future. Our initiative is designed to incorporate both short-term goals of relief and long-term goals of building trust between two peoples in order to foster a positive environment for future negotiations. We are excited at the prospect of establishing a project that will engage the broader campus community and grow over the coming years.

Q:
Why is positive campus activism the right approach?

A:
There are two sides to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and suffering on both sides. Positive activism brings people closer together and offers hope for all sides. We believe that nurturing hope and building direct connections between Israelis and Palestinians is the best way to encourage positive change from within. By offering support and positive motivation, we strive to express our belief that change from within is possible and is the most effective route to a secure and prosperous future. We hope to motivate the Israeli and Palestinian public so that they will be more inclined to push leadership to pursue change and make compromises.

Q:
Why is a two-state solution so important?

A:
We firmly believe in two states for two people. Both Israelis and Palestinians have the right to self-determination and a peaceful existence. A two-state solution is the only way to ensure the preservation of both people's unique identities and their ability to express them in two sovereign nations. Organizations like EcoPeace Middle East, Save a Child's Heart, Americans for a Vibrant Palestinian Economy, and Yala Young Leaders affirm the need for two states and set the foundation for two sustainable, independent nations as well as bolster positive relationships between their populations.
